Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu: Hikes to Machu Picchu and Salkantay is a good combination for adventure tourism; having as a final destination Machu Picchu a sacred inca City. Vilcabamba is chain of mountains, where is located the famous glacier “Salkantay” an inca deity. The Salkantay is surrounded by deep valleys and gorges, which create an interesting and exhausting trail.
Trekking to Machu Picchu by Inca Trail, is known for its landscapes and archaeological wealth that can be seen along the way, so it is highly traveled by tourists, who prefer trying this kind of adventure.
The snowy Salkantay is an alternative route to arrive at the citadel of machu picchu, this route crosses the cordillera of vilcabamba.
Before traveling you should note that you reach a height of 4, 650 m.s.n.m can be reached by a route:
Via mollepata.- The mobilities that lead to the beginning of the walk (soraypampa) leave the whereabouts of arcopata.
