ITINERARY DETAILS
Day 1: Cusco
Reception and greeting in Cusco airport and transfer to your hotel for checkin. Rest and acclimate your first day to Cusco’s 3,300 meter elevation. In the afternoon explore Cusco’s many shops, restaurants and fantastic main square – The Plaza de Armas.
Day 2: Pisaq Hike, Lares
After breakfast, you will be greeted in your hotel and driven 30 minutes northeast of Cusco to the ancient archaeological center of Pisaq. Pisaq was built with the finest quality masonry that can be seen anywhere in and around Cusco including Machu Picchu and Sacsayhuaman. With our guide, we will begin our pictures ascent through agricultural terraces always climbing higher along rock and dirt paths, terraces and stairs. This is a medium-difficult hike that requires 2 to 3 hours.
Water and energy snacks are recommended to bring for the hike. Once at the top you will be amazed to see the well laid out small citadel of Pisaq. After have hiked to the pisaq mountain you will go on to Lares to enjoy the thermal hot springs in the afternoon. In the evening continue on to the ancient Inca fortress of Ollantaytambo and check-in to your hotel. people from Ollantaytambo still use the Inca built houses and you will see the terraces and Inca irrigation system that is still used by villagers for cultivation.
Day 3: Ollantaytambo, Aguas Calientes
After breakfast, your guide will greet you to begin a fantastic hike up the terraces and along the magnificent walls of Ollantaytambo. This place was strategically built to guard the Sacred Valley to the north. Here you can see the amazing Incan constructions of six half-built stone monoliths at the top of Ollantaytambo.
Continue atop this complex to the hill Tunupa.
Here you can see the profile of the old man on the side of the rocks. High above you can also see the old food storehouses used by the Incas. After the hike return to the village of Ollantaytambo to enjoy a delicious lunch. In the afternoon take the train to Aguas Calientes where you will be greeted and taken to check-in to your hotel.
If you wish you can enjoy the hot springs here also. Discuss with your guide plans for the next day’s visit to Machu Picchu.
Day 4: Machu Picchu, Cusco, (Hiking to Wayna Picchu mountain)
After breakfast, you will meet your guide for your tour to Machu Picchu, one of the most remarkable and enigmatic archaeological sites in the world (optionally you can hike to Wayna Picchu Mountain in the morning). Few works made by man are as harmonious with nature as the citadel of Machu Picchu.
The “Lost City” is located at the top of a flattened mountain.
Enjoy one of the wonders of Machu Picchu with your guide: the Sacred District, the Popular District to the south, and the District of Royalty in the urban sector.
Visit the Temple of the Sun, the Room of the Three Windows and Temple of the Condor. Besides the outstanding archaeological remains see the spectacular panoramic views of the Jungle Mountains and the Urubamba River 400 meters below.
After the tour return to Aguas Caliente by bus and board your train back to Cusco. You will be greeted at the train station and taken back to your hotel.
Day 5: Depart Cusco
After breakfast you will be taken to the Cusco airport by private car for you flight to Lima. End of our services.
