ITINERARY
ITINERARY DETAILSDay 1: Arrive to LimaLima airport greeting and private transfer to your Miraflores, Lima hotel. Day 2: Lima City TourAfter breakfast, you will be greeted in your hotel and taken on a private tour of Lima, “The City of the Kings”. Visit the Plaza Mayor, the 16th-century Cathedral of gold, followed by a tour of the catacombs at the Convento San Francisco. The tour ends in the beautiful residential district of Miraflores and a visit of the only pre-Inca ruin, Huaca Pucllana, constructed in the 2nd century AD. It was built by the Inca people as a “Sacred Town” and was a busy ceremonial and administrative center. Return to your hotel after the tour. Day 3: Lima, Cusco flightYou will be greeted in your hotel and taken to the Lima airport for your one hour flight SE over the Andes to historic Cusco. At the Cusco airport, you will be met and taken to check in to your hotel near the main square in Cusco’s historic district. Day 4: Sacred Valley TourAfter breakfast visit the Sacred Valley of the Incas north of Cusco. Your trip today through the land of the Incas first stops in Pisac, a beautiful place to observe archaeological remains and visit the famous Indian market. Then continue on to Urubamba where you’ll stop and have a delicious typical Andean buffet lunch. Next visit the archaeological city of Ollantaytambo, an original Inca city. Scale the magnificent wall and see where the 2 valleys converge. This is where the Inca defended the Sacred Valley to the North. You will be returned to your hotel after the Sacred Valley Tour.
Day 5: Train to Aguas CalientesYou will be greeted in your hotel and taken to the train station in time for your train to Aguas Calientes and Machu Picchu. Enjoy a picturesque, serene ride along the river. You will be greeted in Aguas Calientes and escorted to your hotel. You will be met by your guide in your hotel’s lobby for a brief orientation regarding tomorrow’s visit to the Citadel of Machu Picchu. Public hot springs are available in Aguas Calientes (small fee). Day 6: Machu Picchu Tour, Train to CuscoAt the predetermined time you will be met in your hotel by your guide and taken by bus to the citadel of Machu Picchu. Spend 2 hours with your guide then have time on your own to explore. You will have the opportunity to walk to the Inca Bridge or the East Gate. When finished take any one of the continuous buses back down to Aguas Calientes in time for your train back to Cusco.
Day 7: Cusco City TourIn the afternoon you will be met at your hotel for unforgettable tours of the ruins just outside of Cusco. Visit the Temple of the Sun (Coricancha) and see how Spanish construction co-exists with fine Inca stonework. Afterward visit the ancient ceremonial sites of the Incas just outside of Cusco: the megalithic walls of Sacsayhuaman, the caves atQ’enqo, and the fortress of Pucapucara. You can also visit the baths, canals, aqueducts and waterfalls of Tambomachay. After completion of the tour you will be brought back to your hotel. Day 8: Leisure Day in CuscoLeisure day in Cusco to shop, visit San Pedro Market, San Blas and Cusco’s small streets rich in history. Your tourist ticket grants you admission to other sites that you can visit this day. Day 9: Cusco, Lima flight, Depart LimaPrivate transfer to the Cusco airport in time for your one hour flight to Lima. End of services. |
