Description: Peru Mystic Tours: Self Balance Work. A beautiful experience will balance you spiritually and put you in touch with the Andean Elements
Your Self Balance Work 5 Day program begins as soon as you arrive to Lima and feel the difference in latitude at 13º south of the equator in the southern hemisphere. After you arrive to Lima proceed straight to the airline counters to check in to your flight to Cusco for your 1 hr flight SE over the Andes to historic Cusco. You will be met outside the Cusco airport terminal (CUZ) and taken by private car to check-in to your downtown hotel (15 min). Rest, breathe and drink the complimentary coca tea provided in your hotel to help you acclimate to Cusco’s 11,000 ft (3300M) elevation. You can take a leisure walk in the afternoon but do not exert yourselves your first 24 hrs at this altitude. Overnight Cusco.
Spend the morning exploring a little of Cusco, its shops and sites since you will have little time to do this after you return from the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu. In the afternoon and at your leisure your private car and guide will transfer you to the Sacred Valley passing through small towns and farms north of Cusco for 90 min. First stop to see the magnificent site of Sacsayhuaman high above Cusco with its monolithic immense stones that fit together perfectly to form this former religious ceremonial center. Next stop at the Pisaq ruins in the eastern Sacred Valley, a former fortress with neighborhoods that are remarkably well preserved. There is also a huge souvenir market in the town square below the ruins. Afterwards, continue west to your Sacred Valley hotel beneath spectacular mountains. Your hotel was designed for health and wellness with gardens, koi fish ponds, chapel, library, arboretum, spa, movie theater and paths to enjoy the fruit trees, peacocks, alpacas, llamas, parrots and the hotel’s grounds. This is a wonderful place to relax and be contemplative amongst magnificent views of peaks and the Sacred Valley along the Urubamba River. Overnight Sacred Valley. (B,L)
Begin your day with a wonderful breakfast in the hotel. An Andean Mystic Ceremony centers around payment or thanks to Mother Earth or Pachamama in the local dialect, Quechua in the 5 Day Self Balance Work program. With the reminder that we all came from and will one day return to our Earth Mother we can get greater insights into the Shamanic ceremony. We begin our celebration with the ceremony of natural forces in the asking for permission to proceed. This is done by the Shaman who comes from the high Andes Mountains in the Keros community. He will prepare the offering (Despacho) to integrate and introduce us into the Andean world. But what is really happening is that the Shaman is leading us to changing our feelings by changing our thoughts and bridging the gap between our conscious and subconscious. Only through our feelings can we influence our subconscious. So it is important to only think of positive, self-loving, and planet-loving thoughts since our subconscious will in turn respond with what we feel about ourselves, our home and each other. Stay in the present and think not of the past or future for a more rewarding ceremony. Your guide will accompany you to your ceremony to help translate for the Shaman in the ceremony conducted in Quechua who will mention these sacred elements of the Incas: Illapa (lightning), Pachamama (Mother Earth), Apus (Mountains), Tayta Inti (Sun), Mama Quilla (Mother Moon), Mama Cocha (Water) and Chaskas (Stars). Enjoy the rest of the day at your hotel.
Overnight Sacred Valley. (B)
The trains cannot accommodate large luggage so it is best to bring an overnight or carry-on bag on the train to Machu Picchu and let your guide bring your large suitcase back to your Cusco hotel for you.
Begin your day with a leisurely, wonderful breakfast of fruits, juices and locally grown grains in your hotel. Leave your hotel and drive west with your guide and driver to the town of Ollantaytambo where the Inca guarded the Sacred Valley to the north. The huge wall can be climbed for magnificent views of the valley and to admire the stonework at the top. Every place in the Sacred Valley can be appreciated for the energy it brings you if you can stop, turn off the noice and just be still.
Afternoon train to Aguas Calientes (90 min) where you will be met by your hotel and escorted (walk) to your hotel. This is a loud, small town full of shops, restaurants, hotels that all center around the train station. 7PM hotel lobby briefing with your guide to discuss plan to visit Machu Picchu in the morning. Overnight Aguas Calientes. (B)
After breakfast check out and store your overnight bags with your hotel. You will be met by your guide to walk to the buses for the 20 min ride up to Machu Picchu. Buses run continuously and only stop at the top and bottom. Enjoy 2 hrs with your guide then have plenty of time to hike and explore the park on you own. Machu Picchu was probably an estate of the Inca Pachacutec, who also designed Cusco. It was a town with individual homes for nobility made in the classical Inca style with polished dry-stone walls. Its 3 three primary structures are the Intihuatana, the Temple of the Sun, and the Room of the Three Windows. The magnificence of this site is fully appreciated at sunrise. As the mist rises just after sunrise the site itself is revealed to you. Machu Picchu sits hidden amongst other spectacular surrounding mountains. When finished take one of the continuous running buses 20 min back down to Aguas Calientes, retrieve your overnight or carry on bags from the hotel and be at the Aguas Calientes train station at least 30 minutes before your departing train to Cusco and van back to your hotel (3.5 hrs). Overnight Cusco. (B)
