The tour is a one-day 6-mile hike from Chachabamba (km 104) to Machu Picchu. It is designed for those who wish to enter Machu Picchu through the Sun Gate but may not want to camp out. Lunch, numerous photo opportunities, cloud forest and spectacular views of the Vilcanota River far below.

You’ll connect with the Inca Trail by first hiking to the Winya Wayna ruins by ascending a bath lined stone staircases. From here it is 1.5 hours of easy hiking to Inti Punku, the Gate of the Sun (8860 ft) and your first view of Machu Picchu.

Day 1: Cusco, Chachabamba, Inti Punku, Machu Picchu

You will be greeted at 6:30 am in your hotel and taken to 104 km on the rail line to begin your “Short Inca Trail Hike”. Visit the archaeological complex of Chachabamba before going up the waterfall. Depending on the weather you can have lunch in the restaurant. Continue on to Intipunku where you can appreciate the impressive citadel of Machu Picchu at around 5:30 pm. When finished board the bus from Machu Picchu to Aguas Calientes and check-in to your hotel. You will have time to enjoy the hot springs and thermal baths.


Day 2: Machu Picchu, Cusco

Rise early and be greeted by your guide before ascending to the citadel of Machu Picchu by bus. There your guide will lead you through the magnificent Lost City of the Incas for 3 hours explaining the buildings and significance of the temples, parks, and layout of each area.  
You will have time to experience Machu Picchu on your own after the tour before descending to Aguas Calientes by bus for taking your train back to Ollantaytambo. From there you will be driven 90 minutes to Cusco’s San Francisco Plaza where you can easily walk back to your hotel.
