ITINERARY DETAILSDay 1: Cusco, Puerto Maldonado, Tambo Jungle Lodge, Isla de los MonosAs soon as you arrive at Maldonado airport, our collaborators will contact you to take you to the city center where you could visit the exotic local market, of course depending on the time of arrival to this city, at this time it is possible to use our facilities in the city to leave part of our luggage that we consider not important in the next days of travel. Then we embark on a boat with an outboard motor, downstream on the way to our hostel facilities, most of the time it is at this moment where we take our lunch, enjoying the scenery of the Amazon River. As soon as we arrive at our lodge, a party will welcome us, with a drink characteristic of our Amazon rainforest, it is also time to know our accommodations and relax a bit. In the afternoon we take the boat that for a period of 30 minutes will lead us to the island of monkeys (spider monkey, cappuccino, squirrel, etc.). In addition to birds, rodents, other species can be observed in the area. Then we return to our hostel and at night we have a delicious and traditional dinner. Night walks or activities are possible every night, which will be available to the organization of our guides. Day 2: Lago SandovalEarly and after a breakfast, we take a walk of about an hour and a half, to reach the vicinity of one of the most beautiful places in the Amazon rainforest, Lake Sandoval which shows a unique and harmonious landscape, complemented by flora and existing fauna, in addition to housing one of the endangered species such as the Giant Otter, which with a little luck can be observed in the immediate vicinity. During this visit we will use a small canoe, which will help us to explore the lake, in which it is also possible to observe birds, some types of fish, turtles, etc. In the afternoon we have a walk through the immensity of the jungle, we will visit areas where the size of the trees will impress us with the greatness they expose in the middle of the Amazon rainforest. Day 3: Proyecto TaricayaAfter our customary breakfast, we will have the opportunity to discover the amazing and complicated canopy system of the Amazon forest. This day we transport ourselves for an hour downstream towards the Taricaya project, where there is a system of interpretive trails, which will show us different aspects of the Amazon forest; We will know more about the project animal tracks, called birds and medicinal plants. Day 4: Jardín Botánico, Quebrada GamitanaIn the morning we have a visit to the botanical garden that is approximately 10 minutes from our Lodge across the Madre de Dios River, this activity lasts all morning. In the afternoon we will have the activity of Sport Fishing this is done in the Gamitana gorge that is located one hour from our Lodge, and then return to our Lodge. Day 5: Collpa de Loros, Puerto Maldonado, Visita a la ciudad, Cusco o LimaIn the morning, we leave very early, heading to the parrot collpa where a unique spectacle awaits us. It is necessary to travel for an hour and a half to reach the area where a clay wall offers the resource to dozens of parrots, which congregate daily very early to ingest the clay present in this area, after enjoying this spectacle of the Nature, we go to the city of Puerto Maldonado, to take the flight that will lead us to Cusco or Lima, whatever the case. |
