ITINERARY DETAILS

Day 1: Arrive to Lima

Private airport greeting and transportation to your Miraflores or San Isidrio hotel to begin your Culinary itinerary and tours with Cooking Classes in 3 different regions of Peru in 12 Days.


Day 2: Lima City Tour

At 2PM your guide will meet you in your hotel lobby and in your private car take you to visit the colonial city of Lima, the Main Square and the The Convent and Catacombs of San Francisco. Optional visit to Museo Larco. Overnight Lima.


Day 3: Culinary Cooking Class Lima

At 4 PM you will be greeted in your hotel and transferred to your cooking class. Visit the market to buy fresh seasonal produce. Prepare an appetizer (eg, Causa Limeña), entré (Ceviche or Lomo saltado), dessert (eg. arroz con leche), and drink (Pisco Sour). Return to your hotel after the tour. Overnight Lima.


Day 4: Lima – Arequipa flight. Arequipa Walking City Tour

Private transfer to Lima airport and your flight to the White City of Arequipa. Private Arequipa airport greeting and transfer to your centrally located hotel. Take a private Arequipa walking tour also to visit the convent of Santa Catalina and the museum of the Mummy Juanita. Overnight Arequipa.


Day 5: Arequipa Culinary Cooking class

In the morning, visit the central market to buy ingredients to prepare today’s lunch and learn of the culinary secrets and techniques of the area and region. Please note that if you wish to visit the Colca Canyon and Lake Titicaca in Puno add three days to the tour!


Day 6: Arequipa – Cusco flight

Private transfer to the Arequipa airport for the short flight to the colonial Imperial City of Cusco. Private transfer to your Cusco hotel. Rest, breathe, and acclimate to Cusco’s 11,000-feet. Drink the complimentary coca tea provided by your hotel, eat lightly, breathe, rest and do not smoke or drink for 24 hrs after arriving to Cusco. Overnight Cusco.


Day 7: Cusco Culinary Cooking class

Discover Cusqueñan cuisine with an intimate group cooking class at the Marcelo Batata Restaurant in Cusco near the Monasterio Hotel. Visit the market to shop for local ingredients and try different fruits at San Pedro Market. Prepare typical Peruvian dishes like ceviche, Lomo Saltado, Aji de Gallina, and the traditional Pisco Sour cocktail. Finally sit down to enjoy your masterpiece of a deliciously cooked dinner. This is a fun and educational tour that can be enjoyed by future chefs any ability. Small sized group ensures a personal experience.


Day 8: Group Tour Sacred Valley of the Incas

8 AM hotel greeting for your ride north from Cusco with your group to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Glaciers rise high above the fertile river valley that still produces much food. The Incas used most of their land for agriculture whether it be flat river beds or terraced mountain sides. Visit the artisan market of Pisac. Enjoy and a delicious Andean buffet lunch along the Urubamba River.

Visit the town of Ollantaytambo, a fantastic historic village that still retains its original Inca construction of great architecture. Ingenious spring fed aqueducts still serve the local houses with a water supply for consumption and irrigation of their agriculture. In the afternoon, board the train to Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu (two-hours) where you will be met and escorted to your hotel.


Day 9: Machu Picchu Tour – Return to Cusco

After breakfast check out and store your overnight bags with your hotel. You will be met by your guide to walk to the buses to take you up to Machu Picchu’s entrance (20 min). Enjoy 2 hrs with your guide then have plenty of time to hike and explore the park on your own.

Machu Picchu was probably an estate of the Inca Pachacutec, who also designed Cusco. It was a town with individual homes for nobility made in the classical Inca style with polished dry-stone walls. Its 3 three primary structures are the Intihuatana, the Temple of the Sun, and the Room of the Three Windows. The magnificence of this site is fully appreciated at sunrise. As the mist rises just after sunrise the site itself is revealed to you. Like a saddle on top of a mountain, Machu Picchu sits hidden amongst other nearby fantastic peaks. Take one of the continuous running buses back down to Aguas Calientes when you are ready for lunch. Retrieve your bags from your hotel and be at the train station in time for your train back to Ollantaytambo. You will be met and taken by private car back to your Cusco hotel.


Day 10: Group Cusco City Tour

At 2 PM you will be met at your hotel to enjoy the wonderful sites around the city. Visit Coricancha The Temple of the Sun, near the center of Cusco. Sacsayhuaman 15 minutes outside of Cusco with huge walls comprised of monolithic stones, Qenko – a small cave like structure used in Inca ceremonies, Puca Pucara the small fortress and Tambomachay with its fountains and small canals. All of these sites are near each other and played an important part in the Inca’s ceremonies religious and civic. After completion of the tour, you will be returned to the Main Square. Overnight Cusco.


Day 11: Leisure Day Cusco

Enjoy the small restaurants, shops, streets and markets of Cusco this day. Many culinary delights, street foods and local flavor in the charming city of Cusco. Overnight Cusco.


Day 12: Cusco, Lima flight

Private transfer to the Cusco airport for your flights to Lima and home.
